Sir, - Dr William Reville ("How to see the hidden beauty of Nature", March 20th) stated some wonderful truths about the beauty in the creation we see. He unfortunately lets himself down by stating that the theory of evolution is an "excellent example of a beautiful theory" by virtue of its simple "engine" of natural selection.

What he fails to convey is the fact that natural selection cannot explain how better adapted species arose in the first place.

Perhaps it's time to question Darwinian assumptions and point out in a reasoned way that increased order and beauty logically points to a greater probability that there indeed is a creative intelligent force behind what we see. Conversely, more randomness and chaos under the microscope would be good news for such evolutionists. - Yours, etc.,
