Four years ago Behan become Ireland’s second ever Olympic representative in gymnastics, overcoming illness and injury in the process, including several months in a wheelchair while growing up. His father Phil is from Dublin and his mother Bernie is Monaghan. Defying further odds, including a lack of funding, and two torn ACL joints, he qualified for London, earning considerable respect in the process. It hasn’t been an easy four years since, Behan just missing out on an individual medal at the European Games in Baku last summer, but he’s back more determined than ever and a potential finalist this time.
