Ireland’s momentum should see them go all the way

Noel McNamara’s under-18 side can prevail over England in final

Coach Noel McNamara has cited Ireland's capacity to improve game-on-game as the most satisfying aspect of their march to the final of the FIRA-AER U18 European Championships in Poland this afternoon.

The Irish have made the necessary steps required of them by coming from behind to deal 20-10 with a muscular Georgia eight days ago and ramp up their performance with a 24-11 win over a fancied France on Tuesday.

Their composure, physicality and commitment to the game plan will come under scrutiny from holders England, who beat off Wales 11-9 in the other semi-final after a 62-5 stroll over Portugal first time out.

Ireland have won this prestigious tournament once before in 2011 and they have what it takes to go all the way this afternoon.
Verdict: Ireland.
