Just 161 social housing units were built by local authorities across the State in the first nine months of last year, while housing waiting lists continued to expand.

On the latest Inside Business podcast, Eoin Burke-Kennedy outlines just how acute the crisis is for local authorities, 21 of which were recorded as having built no social housing units in 2016.

Staying on the subject of property, Joe Brennan has the details of new Irish venture, Oaktree, which hopes to list on the Irish stock market and he also has the details of PTSB's €2.5m fine by the European Central Bank for liquidity rules infractions.

In the second half of the show, Mark Paul and Martin Wall talk about hearings at the Workplace Relations Commission relating to working conditions for grooms and exercise riders at Ballydoyle racing yard
