The Irish Times is seeking to appoint a senior executive director with responsibility for business-to-consumer activities, including the monetisation of digital content.

The person appointed to the new position of Business to Consumer Director will play a central role in the creation of strategies for news and content sales and will be responsible for the sales and marketing of The Irish Times print edition and irishtimes.com.

The executive is expected to be a significant figure in the development of the media organisation’s “digital pass”, which is the company’s name for its plans to charge for digital content in the future.

"It's a key strategic role and a key first step in relation to our digital pass and digital content strategy," said Liam Kavanagh, managing director of The Irish Times.
