We were all rather tickled in here to see the news that Little Red, the short-hop UK domestic airline owned by Richard Branson's Virgin Atlantic, is to introduce live comedy and musical performances on some of its flights this summer.
This, er, innovation was announced on the parent company's Facebook page and Twitter feed during the week. It will kick off on flights to Edinburgh during that city's famous comedy and arts festival.
Little Red is, of course, operated by Aer Lingus on a wet lease arrangement using the Irish airline's aircraft and crew.
So what about a spin from Declan Kearney, the airline's highly efficient director of communications? When Aer Lingus was celebrating its 75th anniversary a few years back, Kearney took part in a talent show for staff in one of the hangars at Dublin Airport. By all accounts, he is a dab hand at the guitar and ukelele.
The thoughts of Christoph Mueller, Aer Lingus's German-born chief executive, taking to the aisle to do the Schuhplattler or cracking jokes to keep passengers entertained is almost too much to bear.
