An Irish aircraft refurbishment specialist has merged with a US company to expand its business operation near Shannon Airport.

The company that previously traded as UJet plans to create 28 jobs over the next two years at its Co Clare operation, located ten minutes from Shannon Airport.

Following the merger with US company STS Component Solutions, the newly formed STS UJet will join the growing cluster of 60 aviation companies based at the “Shannon free zone” (SFZ) which employ over 2,600 people.

“We are delighted to be expanding our operation to Shannon Free Zone. Our new facilities provide us with the space to grow and expand into the future.

The company which also does aircraft interior modification has taken newly refurbished facilities totalling 38,000sq ft in the SFZ, an area which is in the process of a €40 million investment programme due for completion at the end of this year.

Established in September 2015 by three former employees of Atlantic Aviation Group, UJet customers include aircraft lessors AerCap, Avolon and BBAM.
