Remember Candy Crush Saga? If you weren't hopelessly addicted to it, you were being plagued by Facebook invites to get on board. It was a bit of a love-hate relationship for many players: you wanted to stop playing it because it was beginning to frustrate you but before you deleted it, you wanted to get that last level finished. Some of us managed to break the habit though. And now they're trying to lure us back in. Candy Crush Soda Saga, which was released on Facebook last month, has recently launched on smartphone devices.
The basic idea remains the same – clear the candies by matching three or more – but there are some changes. The main one is hinted in the title – the “Soda” brings in a new challenge where, in addition to candies falling from the top of the screen, the soda raises them from the bottom too. And there are new challenges to tackle: reveal the hiding gummy bears by clearing candies, get a certain number or soda bottles, get a gummy bear past a certain point marked by a candy necklace.
If you managed to make the break from Candy Crush Saga, don't even think about downloading Soda. Not even for a few days to see what it's like. You'll get hooked in again. You'll curse it. You'll try to recruit friends. Take your finger off the "install button" and back away slowly. Don't say we didn't warn you.
