Yeti Lane
Sonic Cathedral
**
Parisian trio Yeti Lane were once part of an experimental post-rock band, they're signed to a label famed for its shoegaze-oriented releases, and they've have accumulated comparisons with Grandaddy and Talk Talk.
But if there was ever a case of try before you buy, it's this album. Their debut certainly isn't half as exciting as it sounds, though it's not a complete calamity. There are several instances of toe-tapping satisfaction in these unrushed indie tunes, even if many of them sound overbearingly like the product of a love affair with Radiohead. Yet for every Think It's Done, which conveys traces of their countrymen Phoenix and Air, or the nimble tweeness of Lonesome George, there's a song that sounds both half-formed and half-hearted (Lucky Bag). Tuneful? Certainly. Abominable? Not quite. Unremarkable? Most definitely. www.myspace.com/yetilane
