The success of Brendan O'Carroll's Mrs Brown persona has helped the comedian's main company record profits of €1 million last year.
New accounts filed to the Companies Office by the Dubliner’s Mrs Brown’s Boys Ltd show that profits at the firm more than quadrupled, going from €248,995 in 2011 to €1.075 million in the 12 months to the end of December last.
O'Carroll is the creative force behind the TV phenomenon Mrs Brown's Boys, and the stellar year enjoyed by O'Carroll's firm allowed him to take a dividend of €420,000.
O'Carroll shared the dividend with his wife and company shareholder Jennifer Gibney, who plays Mrs Brown's daughter Cathy in the series.
Even after the dividend payout of €420,000, the firm at the end of last year had shareholder funds totalling €1.37 million. The abridged accounts do not provide a revenue figure for the year.
The main activity of the firm is theatrical performance and the strong performance by the company coincided with O'Carroll winning a Bafta in 2012 for Best Situation Comedy for Mrs Brown's Boys.
