€100 CHALLENGE

What would a fashion designer, a model and two students do with €100 at the start of this most festive of months?

What would a fashion designer, a model and two students do with €100 at the start of this most festive of months?

NIKKI BONASS

Model

Nikki Bonass arrived in our studio with just a small bag of tricks: her favourite pair of vintage ankle boots, which she picked up in Eager Beaver in Temple Bar for €10, a purple velvet dress that cost €87 at Urban Outfitters, and a few pieces of jewellery from Oxfam. She has a grá for vintage clothing and was recently photographed in one of Grace Kelly's dresses - "She was tiny; much smaller than she looks on the screen." Bonass regularly trawls eBay and charity shops, giving the Irish Cancer Society shop in Dún Laoghaire a special mention.

LISA O'RIORDAN

Lingerie designer

Lisa O'Riordan arrived back in Dublin from Costa Rica on the morning of this shoot tanned and cheerful despite her jet lag. She entered the €100 challenge with this colourful quilted jacket, which she found in Anthologie in the US for $98. It looks great with jeans as well as with a black dress. Colour is her thing, as her fun and flattering brand of underwear proves (www.livebylove.com). She started in Cow's Lane market only three years ago; her label is now stocked by Brown Thomas, Petticoats & Bloomers at Kalu in Naas, Serendipity in Kilkenny, Tippe Canoe in Limerick, Divine in Malahide and Maynooth, and Seagreen in Monkstown, Co Dublin.

ÓRLA SHEILS

MA student

Órla Sheils bought a black dress for her graduation at River Island for €67. It's classic Jackie O in style but has a funky zipper up the back, and she's getting lots of wear out of it. She plays hockey for Clontarf, and she might wear it to the club's Christmas party. Her shoes cost €89 from Schuh on O'Connell Street.

REBECCA McADAM

MA student

Rebecca McAdam's sister has a boutique in Co Mayo called Louisburgh 74, so she has access to the occasional expensive label even on a student budget, which she then mixes with high-street bargains. New Look shops are among her favourite haunts; she also likes Stradivarius in Newbridge, Co Kildare. She recommends the new Quiz section in the Sasha on St Stephen's Green, which has lots of sparkly party dresses just now for €60. She found her red belted shirt for €25 and wet-look jeans for €40 at New Look.

The shorts Sheils and McAdam are wearing in the main photograph are from River Island and Morgan, €50. McAdam's waistcoat is from Warehouse, €50. Their jewellery is from Oasis and River Island; their hats cost less than €20 at H&M.
