You can, quite literally, fish for your supper at a new angling centre just opened in Coolrain, Co Laois which has four large spring-fed lakes stocked with brown and rainbow trout, carp and tench.
Instruction and tackle hire are available, and once you've landed your fish, Enda Thompson Phelan, who runs the centre with her husband John (pictured right), will show you how to fillet it and cook it at the on-site barbecue area. The price is a reasonable €20 for adults and €10 for children for a half-day's fishing, if you already know what you're doing. If you don't, an additional €100 package will cover tackle hire, bait, and instruction for two adults and up to three children.
