Mackerel tataki

Ingredients

  • 350g mackerel fillets (200g when all skin and bone removed)
  • ½tsp finely diced red chilli
  • 1tsp toasted sesame oil
  • ½tbs pickled ginger, finely chopped
  • 2tbs light soy sauce
  • 1 spring onion , trimmed and finely chopped
  • A little black pepper
  • 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds

1 Mix all the ingredients except the sesame seeds together. (I haven't added salt as the soy sauce will do the seasoning.)

2 Chill for an hour.

3 Serve with the sesame seeds sprinkled on top and a piece of brown toast.
