"I suppose I'm one of those people with very kitsch tastes," says Marian Keyes, describing her interior decorating style.
“Anything that looks like a thing but is something else, I really like. You know like, handbags that look like houses or flowerpots, or chairs that look like t-shirts or shoes,” the best-selling author tells Róisín Ingle, in the first episode of a new podcast by The Irish Times, Back to Yours.
In the podcast Róisín talks to well-known people about their houses, snoops in their drawers and finds out all about the homes they’ve lived in throughout their lives.
This week, Marian talks about her love of colour, her peripatetic childhood, living in a London squat in her 20s – "I just thought, God, I'm so edgy. It was fabulous!" – and finding her forever home with "himself", her husband Tony Baines, in south Dublin.
In the first season of Back to Yours, Róisín speaks to John Boyne, Amy Huberman, Dermot Bannon, Dolly Alderton, among others.
