Roads:Dublin north via the N11 is about 50 miles. Arklow (10 miles). To the south, also via the N11, Enniscorthy (18 miles), Wexford (32 miles) and Rosslare (40 miles).
The Gorey bypass is scheduled to open by November this year. An inner relief road, also due to be completed later this year, will complement the bypass and create a ring-road around the town.
But that is not the end of problems on the N11. A bypass of Enniscorthy is scheduled but no start-date has yet been announced by the NRA.
Trains:Gorey is on the main Dublin-Rosslare route with seven trains each way every weekday. A new commuter service departs Gorey at 6am serving Arklow, Rathdrum, Wicklow, Kilcoole, Greystones, Bray and a number of suburban commuter stops until it arrives in Dublin Connolly at 7.57am.
The last train back in the evening leaves Connolly Station at 18.37pm and arrives in Gorey at 20.21pm.
So, despite a distance of only 50 miles, the commute involves a return journey of some four hours.
Iarnród Éireann says "services will improve over the next two years with the introduction of new rolling stock, more frequent trains and an upgraded signalling system" but the journey time won't be cut dramatically because the single track line "twists and turns" through scenic Co Wicklow and around the coast at Bray head.
Building a new "straighter line" track to Dublin would be "desirable but prohibitively expensive".
Bus:up to 15 private and public services in each direction - north to Dublin, south to Enniscorthy, Wexford/Rosslare daily.
Airport:70 miles to Dublin Airport.
