Saturday morning
Surrounded by seven mountains, a popular Bergen hiking trail is Floyen to Ulriken through Vidden, which takes six hours. Or take the funicular up Floyen with a bottle of wine and enjoy the views.
Saturday afternoon
Walk the harbour and see the colourful Hanseatic houses . Late lunch in Marg og Bein (marg-bein.no), a gastro pub style place. The ox cheek is delicious.
Saturday evening
Some weekends there are concerts at USF Verftet, a former sardine factory. The only Michelin guide restaurant, Lysverket (lysverket.no) serves local produce and great cocktails. Nightlife is bustling around Nygardgaten. Drop by Garage, a punk rock institution or Ujevnt or Legal. Around the National Theatre area, Vaskeriet is fun and Tasting Room is more than a whisky bar (thetastingroom.no). In summer, after the clubs close, everyone disappears for nachbil or a dip in the harbour at 4am; it is bright all night.
Sunday morning
Recover from your late-night swim with brunch at Smakverket (smakverket.no) in the museum district or Kafe Misjonen off Kong Oscar Gate. Elias Vega is from London. He moved to Bergen two years ago and loves Europe's wettest city.
