Crimestoppers, the anonymous freephone crime-fighting service, has offered a reward of €10,000 for information leading to the identification of the murderer of Co Louth woman Irene White.
Ms White (43), a mother of three, was killed on April 6th in her Dundalk home after she received multiple stab wounds to her chest and back.
Crimestoppers released new information yesterday in relation to the case.
According to gardaí, a man was seen running from the vicinity of Ms White's home at about 10.15am on the morning of the murder. Witnesses say he ran through Ice House, Hill Park, adjoining the woman's house, into O'Hanlon Park and then made off in a dark-coloured car that was parked there.
The man is described as being aged in his 30s, wearing jeans, a dark jacket and peaked cap.
A Crimestoppers spokeswoman said: "Someone has information that will help solve this terrible murder. Gardaí want to hear from anyone who may help identify the man who was seen running from the house.
"This was a particularly brutal murder of an innocent mother of three, so anyone who thinks they can help the gardaí in any way with their investigation is urged to ring Crimestoppers in the strictest of confidence on (1800) 250025.
"They can also call the gardaí in Dundalk on (042) 933 5577.
"We are offering a substantial cash reward of €10,000 for specific information that may lead to the identification of the person responsible," she added.
It is thought that Ms White was in her kitchen when her attacker broke into the house and stabbed her. Her body was found by her mother at 12.30pm.
Gardaí do not believe that robbery was the principal motive in this murder.
