Beijing - Up to 2.8 million Koreans have died of "natural calamities" as famine worsens in North Korea, China's official news agency quoted a senior Pyongyang official as saying.

The amount of food available per person in drought-stricken North Korean has dropped to 180 grams (6.3 ounces) a day, the official from the agricultural commission was quoted by Xinhua as saying.
