A two-minute silence throughout the island of Ireland at 11 a.m on Thursday, February 12th, has been called for by the STOP '96 organisation (Solidarity to Organise Peace). The leaders of all the main political parties in the Dail have said they support STOP's call.
STOP's organisation says it also has the full backing of the trade unions, employers, farmers, the main churches, the US ambassador and the Lord Mayors of Dublin, Cork and Belfast.
