Lisbon - Twenty people have starved to death in the past week in just one district of East Timor, despite the presence of international aid agencies in the devastated territory, Portugal's Lusa news agency said yesterday.
Quoting a senior official from the National Council of Timorese Resistance (CNRT), the territory's main political group, the agency said the deaths had occurred in the Manatuto district.
