There are so many international co-productions nowadays that some film credits list a bewildering line-up of financial sources from around the world. The annual Irish drinks reception at Cannes this year fielded an equally long list of hosts from the island of Ireland, with the invitation extended by - deep breath - Bord Scannan na hEireann, the Northern Ireland Film Commission, the Film Institute of Ireland, MEDIA Desk Ireland, Screen Training Ireland and the new Screen Commission of Ireland.
For the first time in the event's short history, the rain stayed away and the sun beamed down on the 100 or so guests guzzling whiskey and soft drinks in the Jameson Club on the third-floor terrace of the festival Palais early last Sunday evening.
