A 24-year-old Belfast man has been taken to hospital with a bullet wound to his right ankle inflicted in a paramilitary-style punishment attack.

The victim was taken from his home in Albert Street in a nationalist area of west Belfast shortly after 9 p.m. on Saturday night and shot. Republican paramilitaries are believed to be responsible. The man's injuries are not life-threatening.
