London - The British Prime Minister, Mr Tony Blair, said yesterday that attempts to stop him repealing a controversial law on homosexuality were rooted in anti-gay prejudice.

Under questioning from Conservative leader Mr William Hague, Mr Blair told Parliament he would press ahead with plans to repeal the law, known as Section 28, despite strong opposition from the House of Lords. Section 28 bans local authorities from promoting homosexuality.
