Border shelling persists

Uri - Indian and Pakistani troops exchanged artillery fire along their Kashmir border for the fifth day in a row yesterday, but officials in New Delhi said the feuding was unlikely to affect peace talks. The Indian army said Pakistani troops had suffered 60 to 70 casualties in the Uri sector in weekend cross-border firing along a military control line in disputed Kashmir. Pakistani officials denied the Indian assessment but gave no other details.
