A 16-year-old boy on a  fishing trip  to a Kerry mountain lake was rescued  early  this morning after an overnight search.

Patrick Greaney (16)  left his home near  Cloghane on Sunday evening  with his  brother Darren (13).

They  were  near the top of Mount Brandon when  the older of the two   fell. He  was located at first light by his father and  brother, and was airlifted to Tralee General Hospital with head and leg injuries.

His condition was described as stable tonight.

The search, which involved up to 50 local people and local rescue services, was co-ordinated by Dingle Sea Cliff and Coast Rescue Service.
