British army bomb disposals experts have carried out a controlled explosion on a suspect device in Derry today.
The device was found in the Malvern Terrace area.
A RUC spokesman said a number of items had been removed for forensic examination.
Several roads in the area, which had been closed off during the security alert, have now been re-opened.
