The Citroen Xsara has won the Semperit Irish Car of the Year award for 1998. It attracted 102 points, against 98 for the Volkswagen Passat. The shortlist of five cars also included the Ford Ka, the Toyota Corolla and the Audi A6. Judging was by Irish motoring journalists, members of the Irish Motoring Writers Association.
