The Music Network's greatly expanded Musicwide scheme, which makes one-off concerts by Irish musicians available around the country outside the framework of regular tours, now boasts an increased roster of ensembles. This includes the Daedalus Wind Quintet (right), a new wind quintet of principals from the National Symphony Orchestra. Comprising William Dowdall (flute), Matthew Manning (oboe), John Finucane (clarinet), Michael Jones (bassoon), and Fergus O'Carroll (horn), the Daedalus Wind Quintet has yet to play in Dublin. But the five can be caught in a Music for Galway concert on Wednesday, when their programme includes quintets by Ibert, Milhaud, Ronan Guilfoyle, Nielsen and Malcolm Arnold. They are also joined by pianist Hugh Tinney for Beethoven's Piano and Wind Quintet.
