Coca-Cola has issued its 265 employees in Drogheda with protective notice. Sixteen craftworkers at the plant, members of the TEEU, have been on strike since Tuesday over the introduction of new work practices. The company says it has issued the notices as a precautionary measure.
The company has been trying to introduce new work practices since the beginning of the year and has concluded an agreement with SIPTU, which represents the majority of employees. The TEEU says it is prepared to negotiate on change, but claims that the company unilaterally introduced new conditions last Monday.
