A man who was imprisoned last month for contempt of a High Court order, directing him to stay away from a teenage girl, was freed yesterday.
Mr Justice Kelly directed the release of the man after he undertook to stay away from the 15-year-old, her family and the mother and baby unit where she is housed. The girl gave birth to the man's child earlier this year.
The judge warned that if there was the slightest breach of the undertaking, the man would return to prison immediately.
The court heard that the girl had absconded from the health board unit where she was housed last month and had been found two days later in the man's home.
The man is due before a District Court today in relation to assault charges preferred against him after gardai called to his home to return the girl to the unit.
