An 18-year-old man was yesterday released on bail after being charged with an offence following a fatal traffic accident on the outskirts of Cork late on Monday night.
Mr David Walsh, from Carbery Grove, Knocknaheeny, Cork, was charged with allowing himself to be carried in a stolen car at the Carrigrohane Straight on October 5th.
Garda John O'Flynn told Blarney District Court that when he arrested, charged and cautioned Mr Walsh, he replied: "Guilty".
Insp Richard Duggan told Judge Michael Pattwell that gardai were opposed to granting bail. However, Mr Walsh's solicitor, Mr Patrick Casey, said his client had never failed to turn up for court.
Judge Pattwell granted Mr Walsh bail on his own bond of £50 and one independent surety of £600 or two independent sureties of £300 and remanded him to appear at Kanturk District Court today.
