Counting of votes in the Seanad election has concluded with the 49 seats now filled.

Joe O'Toole, Ronan Mullen, and Fergal Quinn won the three NUI seats while the last three elected to the Administrative Panel in Leinster House were Fianna Fáil's Camillus Glynn and Tony Kett and Fine Gael's Paschal Donohoe.

The 49 Senators were elected to the five panels of the Seanad: the Cutural and Educational panel, Agricultural panel, Labour panel, Industrial and Commercial panel and Administrative panel.

The final tally of seats put Fianna Fáil on 22, Fine Gael on 14, Labour on six, and Sinn Fein on 1, plus six independents.
