A 44-year-old man was remanded in custody today after he was charged over a €500,000 cocaine seizure in north Dublin.

Christopher Geraghty, from Oldtown Avenue, Santry, did not apply for bail when he appeared before Judge Patricia McNamara at Dublin District Court today.

He is charged under the Misuse of Drugs Act with possessing cocaine for the purpose of sale or supply, at his address yesterday.

Garda Garvan Lennon told Judge McNamara that when Mr Geraghty was charged he made “no reply”.

Dressed in a blue and yellow striped top and blue jeans, Mr Geraghty did not address the court but spoke quietly to his solicitor Áine Flynn. She confirmed that a bail application was not being made at this point.

The defendant, who has not yet entered a plea, was remanded in custody to appear at Cloverhill District Court on October 22nd next . Directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) need to be obtained.

Legal aid was granted.
