One of Ireland's most popular horse trials riders, Mr Sam Moore, was killed in a crosscountry fall at the Blenheim International Three-day Event in Oxfordshire, England, yesterday.
The 35-year-old Co Derry man suffered head injuries when Mr David Wright's nine-year-old horse, Dara Rock, somersaulted over on top of him at fence 19, a new corner combination on the 28-fence course.
Mr Moore was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital, in Oxford, but was dead on arrival.
