Letterkenny IT's most recent addition is an extension building, which houses an information resource centre (before the hi-tech era they were known as libraries), four new lecture theatres and nine state-of-the-art computer labs.
As a result of the extension, the business school has been reintegrated into the campus. According to the college's public relations officer Suzanne Strong, Letterkenny IT has installed one of the most advanced educational facilities in Ireland. "Our computer laboratories are second to none," she says. "We also have specialised labs for electronics, computer engineering, CAD and design." For the future, the college hopes to develop further real-time video service, video archives and video conferencing. "The college's infrastructure supports the transmission of full, high definition video. "Over the next few years, we intend to exploit this through video-on-demand, distance learning, on-line CD archives and internal/external video-conferencing facilities," Strong explains.
