Fears of a fresh outbreak of bird flu in Japan have heightened after 250 birds died at a poultry farm in the southwest of the country.

Kyodo news agency reported the birds had died at a farm in Miyazaki Prefecture, where earlier this month the government confirmed a case of the lethal H5N1 strain of the virus.
