A major fire that broke out in a grain store on the quays in Cork city this morning has been brought under control by firefighters.
Cork City Fire Service said there were still around 14 firefighters at the R&H Hall mill on Kennedy Quay but that the fire is largely under control.
"It just has to be damped down, which will take most of the day and night at this stage," a spokesman said.
He said he could not speculate whether the fire was started maliciously or an accident.
Seven fire service units were called to fight the blaze. The alarm was raised shortly after 7am when fire was seen coming out of the roof of the building.
A Garda spokesman said traffic restrictions in the immediate environs have been lifted for employees and people working in the area. There are three fire tenders left at the scene.
There were traffic delays earlier due to restricted visibility and Mill Road and Kennedy Quay were closed for while.
The Garda spokesman said the scene would be examined when it was safe to do so.
