Two men and two women were questioned today after guns and ammunition were seized in a major security operation in north Belfast.

The men were detained when a car was stopped at the junction of Antrim Road and New Lodge Road. A gun and some ammunition were recovered.

But later, in a follow-up operation, the women were arrested during searches when other weapons were seized.

Police in the city confirmed today that the four were being questioned.
