Paris - Libyan leader Muammar Gadafy, boasting past support for "liberation" fighters in numerous countries, has said the time for war is over and called for the creation of a united states of Africa.
In an interview yesterday in the French daily Le Figaro, Mr Gadafy also said that compensating relatives of 170 people killed in the 1989 bombing of a French airliner did not mean Libya was responsible for the attack.
Mr Gadafy, who is to host an extraordinary summit of the Organisation of African Unity next month, said the time had come for the continent to unite into a federation, disband costly armies and work for development.
