Gardaí in Limerick are questioning two men after the seizure of a cache of arms, ammunition and drugs worth an estimated €1 million.

Two men were arrested after a two-day long search carried out as part of

Operation Anvil, which has targeted organised gangs in Dublin for the last 12 months.

A cocaine-processing operation was discovered in one city-centre apartment, and quantities of cocaine and heroin were found, as well as seven firearms, including Glock semi-automatic pistols and semi-automatic machine guns.

Members of the National Surveillance Unit, which is normally based in Dublin, were drafted in to covertly gather intelligence on the targets of the investigation.

The two men are being held at Roxboro and Henry Street Garda stations in the city.
