INTERNATIONAL LINKS: The international scope of the Ansbacher Deposits is illustrated by the number of overseas residents listed in the report.

At least 24 account-holders were believed to be residents of the UK, and a further 20 residents of the US.

The latter cohort included the Pruna and Barrios families who were under investigation in the US for drug-related offences at the time of their dealings with Ansbacher.

Included in the list of overseas account-holders were:

• Sir John Derek Birkin, a former leading UK industrialist;

• Lady Carole Conyngham of Lygon Road, Edinburgh, Scotland, who had funds, stocks and shares on deposit with Guinness Mahon Cayman Trust (GMCT);

• Mr James Durkin of West Worthing, Sussex, England, who worked in the building trade;

• Mr Stephen Enoch, a former Irish resident who now lives in Spain;

• The late Mr D.H.A.Cecil who owned a public house, the Hare & Hounds, in Hungerford, Berks, UK

• Former directors of Brother Ireland Ltd, Mr Bernard Etzin, a US citizen now living at Grosvenor Road, London, and Mr Kazuaki Tazaki;

• Mr Raymond C. Fitzgerald of Keystone Boulevard, North Miami, Florida, US, who was apparently an associate of the Prunas;

• Mr Paul Goode of Pont L'Eveque, France, who was involved in the racehorse industry.
