A three hour Gardai siege of a house in Limerick city ended early this morning when a man who was said to be "berserk" and armed with a knife gave himself up peacefully. He was taken to the city's Regional Hospital. The stand-off began shortly after 10 p.m. when a woman fled the house at Byrne Avenue, Prospect, and raised the alarm.
