Ireland's exports to non-EU countries rose on a seasonally adjusted basis to euro 3.19 billion in June from euro 2.86 billion in May, the Central Statistics Office said today.
Imports fell to a seasonally-adjusted euro 1.58 billion, from euro 1.69 billion the previous month.
Comparing the first six months of 2001 with the same period in 2000, exports rose 29 per cent, with exports to the United States up 33 per cent and exports to Japan up 15 per cent.
Imports increased 11 per cent on the same measure, with imports from the US up 19 per cent and imports from China up 45 per cent.
