The Turkish Embassy and the Irish Red Cross have praised the generosity of the public in responding to appeals for the victims of the earthquake in Turkey.

At the Irish Red Cross headquarters in Merrion Square, Dublin, secretary general Mr Paul Lynch said it had received almost £70,000 since the appeal began.
