A Kildare man who falsely imprisoned and orally raped a prostitute during a two-hour ordeal has been remanded for sentencing on June 23rd. Adrian Power (27), of Maddenstown, The Curragh, was found guilty by a jury last March after a five-day trial at the Central Criminal Court.
The victim told the jury that Power and a companion "pulled her around like a rag doll" during her ordeal in the Wicklow Mountains in 1994. She described how both of them took turns in forcing her into sex while shouting threats at her.
At yesterday's sitting, Garda Mary Walsh said the victim was now homeless and going through a very difficult time. Sgt Patrick Normile said Power had a number of previous convictions in England, including one for indecent assault.
He agreed with defence counsel that Power's co-accused had lead the attack on the woman. Mr Justice Patrick Smith said he needed to study a victim impact report and other documents before passing sentence.
