Gardaí in Roscommon have launched a search with a difference - for a kangaroo. The animal has been missing for several days after it escaped from a field near Ballaghaderreen.

Gardaí at Castlerea say there has been no sign of the animal since it escaped on Sunday.

"The animal was kept as a pet, but it escaped from the field last Sunday evening and has not been seen since. There have not been any reported sightings, and the owner is anxious to have the animal returned," said a Garda spokesperson in Castlerea.

The kangaroo escaped from a field at Crinaun, between Loughglynn and Ballaghaderreen, on Sunday evening.

Gardaí at Castlerea on (094) 9620019 are seeking assistance in finding the animal.
