THE JURY in a murder trial has heard a knife was found in the River Shannon by a Garda sub-aqua team member.
Kevin Coughlan (29), of Avondale Drive, Greystones, Limerick, has pleaded not guilty of murdering Francis Greene at Steamboat Quay on a date unknown between November 28th and 29th, 2009.
He has also pleaded not guilty to the false imprisonment of Mr Greene between Lower Hartstonge Street and Steamboat Quay in Limerick on November 28 2009.
In addition, Mr Coughlan pleaded not guilty to assaultingRoy Finn and not guilty of producing a knife during that alleged assault at Lower Hartstonge Street on November 28th, 2009.
The court heard the body of 47-year-old Mr Greene was found six weeks later, on February 5th, 2010, on a bank of the River Shannon on farming land at Portrine, Co Clare.
The trial continues before a jury of 10 men and two women presided over by Mr Justice Patrick McCarthy.
