The bad weather has forced promoters to move a one-off concert from the spectacular Luggala Estate in Co Wicklow.
Electronic music legends Kraftwerk were due to headline the unique event in the grounds of the home, tucked away in a picturesque valley in the Wicklow Mountains.
But persistent rain left the site waterlogged and further floods swamped the estate today when the river at Lough Dan burst its banks.
The concert on Saturday, which has been limited to 4,999 fans, will now take place in the grounds of the Royal Hospital Kilmainham.
Promoter John Reynolds said adverse weather and poor forecast for the week meant production and building at the site was impossible.
“I am personally deeply disappointed that this event cannot take place on the Luggala Estate,” he said.
“Due to the unprecedented rainfall and the nature of the site being a natural valley, the subsequent water logging conditions, have made it impossible to prepare Luggala for a concert.”
Luggala, bought by Ernest Guinness as a wedding gift to his daughter Oonagh — one of the so-called Golden Guinness Girls — was a renowned gathering place for Ireland’s artists, musicians and thinkers during the 20th century.
Nestled into a valley and surrounded by mountains, rivers and lakes, it is considered one of the most breathtaking locations in the country.
Guinness heir Garech Browne, who lives on the estate now, has named the concert ‘A Day In The Life’ in memory of his brother Tara Browne, whose fatal car crash in 1966 was immortalised by his friends The Beatles in the song of the same name.
