The Labour Party has criticised the Government for failing to provide the public with information about problems they may face with the millennium bug.
The Labour leader, Mr Ruairi Quinn, said: "An essential component of minimising the impact of any possible disturbances is to prepare the public for them. That cannot happen without a comprehensive information campaign."
A study undertaken by Enterprise Ireland indicated only 30 per cent of Irish companies have undertaken contingency planning. Household appliances which may be affected by the bug include fire and safety alarm systems.
