The Law Society has begun proceedings against a third solicitor out of concern over financial dealings.
The solicitor, who has not been named, has given an undertaking not to practice while the case is before the court.
Jack Fitzgerald SC told the president of the High Court that it was a very serious matter and called for the matter to be heard in camera next Monday.
He said the alleged deficit figure involved had been reduced to about 20 or 25 per cent the amount mentioned in legal documents.
On behalf of the Law Society, SC Paul Anthony McDermott argued that the case should be held in public to avoid rumours that could place other solicitors under suspicion.
Mr Justice Richard Johnson said the case is serious but not as serious as the cases of other solicitors.
